Si crees que puedes seguir viviendo como siempre has vivido, estás equivocado.

 

Si crees que tus hijos tendrán una vida como la tuya, estás equivocado.

 

Si cree que los políticos tienen un horizonte más amplio que las próximas elecciones, te equivocas.

 

Si crees que los problemas que no resuelves hoy se resolverán solos mañana, estás equivocado.

 

Si crees que hay alguien que salvará el mundo por ti, estás equivocado.

 

Si crees que aún queda mucho tiempo, te equivocas.

 

Si crees que el mundo no necesita ser salvado, estás equivocado.

 

Si crees que el deshielo de la tundra en Siberia no te afectará, estás equivocado.

 

Si crees que los miles de millones que viven en el Sur global pueden vivir diariamente con temperaturas de cincuenta grados centígrados, estás equivocado.

 

Si crees que no vendrán aquí, te equivocas.

 

Si crees que el derretimiento de las capas de hielo no hará nada peor que darte cálidos mares para nadar en verano, estás equivocado.

 

Si crees que tu nación es su propio planeta y no comparte su destino con las demás, estás equivocado.

 

Si crees que la Tierra es muda y pasiva, y no te habla a diario, estás equivocado.

 

Si crees que la naturaleza no tiene un lenguaje y que nunca tendrás que aprenderlo, estás equivocado.

 

Si cree que la humanidad ha subyugado al mundo natural y que éste no es mucho más fuerte que nosotros, está equivocado.

 

Si crees que eres el rey del mundo cuando te miras en el espejo, estás equivocado.

 

Si crees que la desaparición de los insectos no convertirá los imperios en escombros, te equivocas.

 

Si crees que los humanos no pueden vivir como ratas, estás equivocado.

 

Si crees que la paciencia del planeta es infinita porque ha soportado la presencia de tu especie durante unos cientos de miles de años, estás equivocado.

 

Si cree que los miles de millones de animales salvajes torturados por las sequías, las inundaciones y los incendios no tienen un mensaje para ti, estás equivocado.

 

Si crees que criar y sacrificar animales encarcelados para saciar tu apetito por la carne no es una cuestión moral, estás equivocado.

 

Si crees que puedes esconderte del futuro, estás equivocado.

 

Si crees que las personas en el poder no son capaces de llevarte ciegamente a la perdición, estás equivocado.

 

Si crees que los guardias fronterizos armados y las ametralladoras y los centros de procesamiento de refugiados en Ruanda pueden protegerte del aumento del nivel del mar y el incremento de las temperaturas, te equivocas.

 

Si crees que la sociedad donde vives no está violando las leyes más fundamentales de la naturaleza, estás equivocado.

 

Si crees que los fracasos de la política climática de hoy no provocarán los desastres de mañana, estás equivocado.

 

Si crees que las acciones de esta generación no tendrán un impacto sobre la vida del planeta durante los próximos miles de años, estás equivocado.

 

Si crees que nunca podrías convertirte en un refugiado dentro de un barco en alta mar, estás equivocado.

 

Si crees que es ilegítimo bloquear un puente y detener brevemente el tráfico asfixiante para llamar la atención sobre la crisis planetaria, estás equivocado.

 

Estamos aquí porque amamos toda la vida en la Tierra, y por eso estaremos aquí una y otra vez.

If you think politicians have a bigger horizon than the next election, you are wrong.

 

If you think that the problems you don’t solve today will solve themselves tomorrow, you are wrong.

 

If you think there’s someone who will save the world for you, you are wrong.

 

If you think there’s still plenty of time, you are wrong.

 

If you believe that the world doesn’t need to be saved, you are wrong.

 

If you think that the thawing tundra in Siberia won’t affect you, you are wrong.

 

If you think that the billions living in the global south can live daily with temperatures of fifty degrees heat, you are wrong.

 

If you think they are not coming here, you are wrong.

 

If you think that the melting ice sheets will do nothing worse than give you warm summer seas to swim in, you are wrong.

 

If you think that your nation is its very own planet, and doesn’t share its fate with others, you are wrong.

 

If you think the Earth is dumb and passive, and doesn’t speak to you daily, you are wrong.

 

If you think nature doesn’t have a language and that you will never have to learn it, you are wrong.

 

If you believe that humanity has subdued the natural world and that it isn’t far stronger than us, you are wrong.

 

If you think you are the king of the world when you look in the mirror, you are wrong.

 

If you think that the disappearance of insects won’t turn empires to rubble, you are wrong.

 

If you think humans can’t live like rats, you’re wrong.

 

If you think the planet’s patience is infinite because it has endured the presence of your species for a few hundred thousand years, you are wrong.

 

If you think the billions of wild animals tortured by droughts and floods and flames don’t have a message for you, you are wrong.

 

If you think that breeding and slaughtering imprisoned animals to feed your appetite for meat isn’t a moral issue, you are wrong.

 

If you think you can hide from the future, you are wrong.

 

If you think that people in power aren’t capable of blindly leading you into doom, you are wrong.

 

If you think that armed border guards and machine guns and refugee processing centers in Rwanda can protect you from rising seas and rising temperatures, you are wrong.

 

If you think the society you live in isn’t breaking nature’s most fundamental laws, you are wrong.

 

If you think that today’s climate policy failures won’t bring about the disasters of tomorrow, you are wrong.

 

If you believe that this generation’s actions won’t have an impact on life on the planet for thousands of years to come, you are wrong.

 

If you think that you could never become a boat refugee, you are wrong.

 

If you think it’s illegal to block a bridge and briefly stop the choking traffic to call attention to the planetary crisis, you are wrong.

 

We stand here because we love all life on earth, and that’s why we will stand here again and again.

 

And if you think you can stop us, you are wrong.
